ABOUT REED |
Reed Fromer
Reed Fromers music has touched, inspired, and delighted countless listeners over thirty-four of his thirty-five years. He has brought passion, joy, creativity, and skill to a wide variety of musical endeavors across a broad range of styles. As a vocalist, he began singing at fourteen months, performed on youth TV shows from ages four to twelve, was featured in the San Francisco Blues Festival at age ten, has been a frequent guest performer with acapella legends The Persuasions, and helped to turn a radio jingle for a supermarket into a virtual underground hit. As a bandleader, he has brought exciting and powerful musical entertainment to a wide array of clubs, company parties, weddings, holiday gatherings, and community events. As a songwriter, he has been a three-time Song of the Year winner of the Northern California Songwriters Association Annual Playoffs and has had his material recorded by veteran stars such as Gregg Allman and future stars such as Kristen McNamara. As a demo producer, he has helped numerous songwriters realize their visions of complete, expert arrangements and production of their songs, often building a final product from nothing more that an unaccompanied melody line. He has also provided backing tracks for vocal performers, all tailor-made to meet their exact musical needs. As a film scorer, he has provided rich, atmospheric musical backgrounds for independent documentaries, educational films for PBS, and corporate training and motivational videos. And as a choir director, he has helped to facilitate a joyous and educational introduction to gospel music for suburban and inner city youth. He has also lent a great deal of support, musical and otherwise, to movements for peace and human rights, and was a 1994 recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian award (given by the Marin County Human rights Commission) for his educational work on civil rights and social justice. |
